Bio


GEORGE TRAHANIS was born in Chicago and grew up in Pittsburgh.

He holds degrees in Theatre and Slavic Languages and Literatures from Indiana University, Bloomington.  George spent the better part of his senior year studying Russian at Leningrad State University in the former Soviet Union.  He has appeared in many productions, from Children’s Theatre (a bus and truck tour of Tom Sawyer in which he played seven roles, including Becky Thatcher and Aunt Polly) to opera (Figaro in Rossini’s Il Barbiere de Siviglia) One of his favorite projects was originating the role of Prince Georgie, “Heirhead Apparent and Royal Twit” at the Minnesota and Kansas Renaissance Faires.  Another career highlight was singing with Liza Minnelli and Billy Strich at the United Nations on World Aids Day.  Other roles include The Count in Maxim Gorky’s The Lower Depths, Dromio of Syracuse in The Comedy of Errors and Elyot in Private Lives.


Trahanis moved to New Orleans in 2015.

He’s appeared in many productions including Summer and Smoke (Reverend Winemiller) at The Tennessee Williams Theatre Company, and as a drunk, singing Russian in “NCIS:  New Orleans” directed by LeVar Burton.


Currently, he is developing his one-man show Life with Yia-Yia or How I Survived My Greek Grandmother.

He held a preview performance in New Orleans last October and looks forward to doing many more and other projects in the Crescent City and beyond.
